Powerware 9155 UPS-Mounted Bypass Switch User’s Guide

Introduction
The Maintenance Bypass Module (MBM) and Power Distribution Module (PDM) are designed to work with an 8–15 kVA Powerware® 9155 uninterruptible power system (UPS). Both modules provide a Make-Before-Break (MBB) wrap-around bypass for UPS maintenance or service without shutting down the load. The PDM also comes equipped with several different types of output receptacles.

UPS-Mounted Bypass Switch Installation

This chapter describes the Maintenance Bypass Module (MBM) and Power Distribution Module (PDM) installation. Both modules have a Make-Before-Break (MBB) maintenance bypass switch.

If you purchased an optional MBM/PDM, attach the module to the UPS before any wiring installation. All hardware is supplied in the accessory kit. To attach the optional MBM/PDM to the UPS:

  1. Remove the connecting plate between the top cabinet and the cabinet below it on the UPS rear panel (see Figure 1). Discard the plate. Retain the screws for later use.

Rocks Cluster Distribution Users Guide

Chapter 1. Installing a Rocks Cluster

1.1. Getting Started
The advantage of using Rocks to build and maintain your cluster is simple. Building clusters is straightforward, but managing its software can be complex. This complexity becomes most unmanagable during cluster installation and expansion. Rocks provides mechanisms to control the complexity of the cluster installation and expansion process.

This chapter describes the steps to build your cluster and install its software.

1.1.1. Supported Hardware
Since Rocks is built on top of RedHat Linux releases, Rocks supports all the hardware components that RedHat supports, but only supports the x86, x86_64 and IA-64 architectures.

Processors :

  • x86 (ia32, AMD Athlon, etc.)
  • x86_64 (AMD Opteron and EM64T)
  • IA-64 (Itanium)

Networks :

  • Ethernet (All flavors that RedHat supports, including Intel Gigabit Ethernet)
  • Myrinet (provided by Myricom)
  • Infiniband (provided by Voltaire)
