Is Your Pet Infected with A Computer Virus

Digital plague

These chips may be small, but just one infected RFID tag is capable of disrupting an entire system with disastrous consequences. Take, for example, the airport at Las Vegas, which handles two million items of luggage per month. As from May 2006, RFID tags will be attached to cases to speed up the baggage handling process. If someone intentionally attaches an infected RFID tag to his case, the entire system will be thrown into disarray. As soon as the case is scanned, the infected tag will be able to invade the airport’s central baggage database and all cases subsequently checked in will also become infected. On arrival at other airports, these cases will be scanned again and within 24 hours, hundreds of airports throughout the world could be infected. The perfect solution for smugglers and terrorists wanting to send suspicious luggage across the world without being noticed.

Teen Pregnancy Pact

Last month’s widely reported spike in the pregnancy rate at a Massachusetts high school stunned many folks. But the 10th-grade moms-to-be weren’t among them. Why? Because apparently most of the seventeen sophomores who got pregnant at Glouster High did it intentionally. You heard it right. The girls were trying to get pregnant!

The school nurse reported that the girls repeatedly marched together into her office for pregnancy tests. They comforted each other when the tests were negative and positive results were met with squeals of delight and hugs all around. On hearing her positive test results, one girl loudly proclaimed “Sweet!”

What?! Turns out that this group of friends actually pledged to get pregnant ASAP and to raise their babies together. Sweet, huh?

Shakti-Yoga Verbatim - Course Guide and Reader in Spiritual Practice

Introduction
This compilation of the body-oriented concentration based spiritual practices unites the major groups of practices developed within the traditions of psychosomatic mysticism (Louchakova & Warner, 2003). Methodology used for the analysis of the body of practices is eclectic, including the studies with traditional teachers, critical analysis of the texts, interviews with active practitioners, clinical case studies of people in the process of spiritual awakening associated with Kundalini energy etc., etc. The treasury of transformative methods, accumulated by spiritual traditions over thousands years of practice, is immense, so after the 20 years of study, this research is still in its initial stage. Therefore within every group of practices, references are given to the sources of knowledge, and, where possible, to the actual observations which allowed to group the practices together.

Beginner’s Guide to Twitter

Introduction
This is a step-by-step guide, primarily written for business users, on how to use Twitter. I am by no means an expert and am learning more about Twitter every day. However, I hope you find this guide useful in helping you find your feet in ‘Twitterland’. In very simple terms, the entire point of Twitter is to communicate.

What is Twitter?
Twitter is a micro-blogging website that allows short messages, called ‘tweets’, of up to 140 characters to be instantly shared with others via the internet or mobile phone.

You simply answer the question: ‘What are you doing?’

Like updating your status on FaceBook, it allows everyone within your network (known as followers) to immediately receive your latest messages and read, reply or comment upon them. It’s a free service that allows anyone to publish their thoughts, ideas or messages to anyone wishing to ‘follow’.

Python Guide for the Systems Biology Workbench

Introduction
This document describes the Python interface to the Systems Biology Workbench (Hucka et al., 2001b).

The Python interface has been designed so that it is very simple to call remote methods in other SBW aware modules. The intention in developing the Python module was that if should enable users to easily control SBW applications using Python scripts.

In addition to providing simple access to SBW modules, the Python interface also exposes many of the functions in the standard SBW API. The reader is recommended to consult the SBW API documentation for more details. In the majority of cases, users will not find it necessary to access the SBW API directly.

When a SBW module starts, Python is notified and a Python interface is automatically constructed to represent the module, this makes it very easy to access a module’s functionality.
