Quick Guide for AF18-200mm F/3.5-6.3 XR Di II

AF18-200mm F/3.5-6.3 XR Di-II is a new high power zoom lens from Tamron for exclusive use with digital SLR cameras, designed to meet nearly every photographic situation. Tamron has been a pioneer of high power zoom lenses, which cover everything from wide-angle to ultra telephoto with just one lens, and its representative product, 28-300mm XR, is a great hit all over the world, supported by a number of prestigious awards bestowed worldwide. The new AF18-200mm lens is designed to cover the same range as the 28-300mm does on a 35mm film camera, when used with a digital SLR camera*. *With smaller-size image sensor.

Tamron’s AF18-200mm F/3.5-6.3 XR Di-II is designed for exclusive use on digital SLR cameras with smaller-size imagers. Please note it cannot be used with compact digital cameras, 35mm film cameras and digital SLR cameras with image sensors larger than 24mm x 16mm.

When designing a lens having a short focal length range (when designing a wideangle lens), the diameter of the lens inevitably becomes large. However, in designing the 18-200mm Di II lens, Tamron has successfully solved this problem by using an image circle designed to match that of general image sensor (smaller-size image sensor), achieving almost the same compactness as the 28-300mm lens (A061), which offers the same angles of view produced in 35mm film format.
