This section is designed to get you on the road to shooting better video quickly. “Before Recording” walks you through setting up to get great quality shots before you hit the Record button. “Recording” tells you how to improve your video while you’re rolling and review your clips for problems before leaving the shoot. If you’d like to learn about each component in detail, see The DV Rack Components and see Arranging DV Rack Components.

Step 1 – Connect Your Camera and Start DV Rack

Connect your camera’s FireWire cable to your computer.

Turn on your computer and ensure that your camera is plugged in or has sufficient battery power.
If you’d like to simultaneously record to tape while recording to your hard drive, insert a tape into your camera and use your camera’s record control.
NOTE: Some cameras may not support this functionality.

Turn your camera on and set it to Record/Camera mode.

Double-click the DV Rack icon to load DV Rack. The picture from your camera should now be displayed in the Field Monitor.

NOTE: When you start DV Rack with a live camera, by default, audio pass-through from the camera to your computer speakers (or other audio output devices) is muted to prevent feedback. To turn Auto Mute off, click the Menu button and set Auto Mute Camera to Off.

TIP: Position your computer screen at an angle which reduces the amount of glare. When shooting in direct sunlight, you may want to consider using a computer screen sunshade like this one for better visibility.

A researcher at Stanford has created an alternative to the mouse that allows a person using a computer to click links, highlight text, and scroll simply by looking at the screen and tapping a key on the keyboard. By using standard eye-tracking hardware–a specialized computer screen with a high-definition camera and infrared lights–Manu Kumar (http://hci.stanford.edu/research/GUIDe/people.html) , a doctoral student who works with computer-science professor Terry Winograd (http://hci.stanford.edu/research/GUIDe/people.html) , has developed a novel user interface that is easy to operate.

“Eye-tracking technology was developed for disabled users,” Kumar explains, “but the work that we’re doing here is trying to get it to a point where it becomes more useful for able-bodied users.” He says that nondisabled users tend to have a higher standard for easy-to-use interfaces, and previously, eye-tracking technology that disabled people use hasn’t appealed to them.

At the heart of Kumar’s technology is software called EyePoint (http://hci.stanford.edu/research/GUIDe/applications.html) that works with standard eye-tracking hardware. The software uses an approach that requires that a person look at a Web link, for instance, and hold a “hot key” on the keyboard (usually found on the number pad on the right) as she is looking. The area of the screen that’s being looked at becomes magnified. Then, the person pinpoints her focus within the magnified region and releases the hot key, effectively clicking through to the link.

Kumar’s approach could take eye-tracking user interfaces in the right direction. Instead of designing a common type of gaze-based interface that is controlled completely by the eyes–for instance, a system in which a user gazes at a given link, then blinks in order to click through–he has involved the hand, which makes the interaction more natural. “He’s got the right idea to let the eye augment the hand,” says Robert Jacob, professor of computer science at Tufts University, in Medford, MA.

Using Your Apple Magic Trackpad

Your Apple Magic Trackpad has a Multi-Touch surface for moving the pointer and performing gestures. To set up gestures and set other options, choose Apple > System Preferences, and then click Trackpad.

Position your Apple Magic Trackpad on a firm level surface. When you move the pointer or perform gestures, you can rest your hand comfortably on the Apple Magic Trackpad and slide your fingers lightly on the surface.

When you perform trackpad gestures, slide your fingers lightly on the trackpad surface. Trackpad gestures work in many applications.

Here are some ways to use your Apple Magic Trackpad:

Drag two fingers up, down, or sideways to scroll in an active window.

Secondary-click (right-click) to access shortcut menu commands.

Use two-finger pinching to zoom in or out on PDFs, images, photos, and more.

Use two-finger rotating to rotate photos, pages, and more.

Swipe three fingers to rapidly page through documents, move to the previous or next photo, and more.

Swipe four fingers left or right to activate Application Switcher so you can cycle through open applications. Four-finger swiping works in the Finder and all applications.

Swipe four fingers up or down to show the desktop or display all open windows in Exposé.

IMPORTANT : Please read these instructions carefully before you start to assemble this greenhouse.
Please carry out the steps in the order set out in these instructions.
Keep these instructions in a safe place for future reference.

Safety Advice

We strongly recommend the use of work gloves during assembly . Do not attempt to assemble the greenhouse in windy or wet conditions.

Do not touch overhead power cables with the aluminum profiles. Always wear shoes and safety goggles when working with extruded aluminum. Dispose of all plastic bags safely – keep them out of reach of small children. The greenhouse must be positioned and fixed on a flat level surface.

Do not lean against or push the greenhouse during construction. Keep
children away from the assembly area. Do not position your greenhouse in an area exposed to excessive wind.

Do not attempt to assemble this greenhouse if you are tired, have taken
drugs or alcohol or if you are prone to dizzy spells. If using a step ladder or power tools ensure that you follow the manufacturers safety advice. Hot items such as recently used grills, blowtorches, should kept away from the greenhouse walls.

We recommend the greenhouse is bolted to a concrete base or slabs (fix hinges are not supplied). However, if you want to fix directly in to the concrete ensure there are no hidden pipes or cables in the ground before inserting the pegs.

General Advice

This multi-part assembly is best achived by two people. Allow at least half a day for assembly process.

Site selection instruction-choose a sunny level position away from overhanging trees. If you are fixing your greenhouse directly to a solid concrete foundation use the pre drilled holes in the metal base supplied. The component parts should be checked and laid out close at hand. Keep all small parts (screws etc.) in a bowl so they do not get lost.

Installing a Snap Server is a simple 4-step process.

Step 1: Connect the Snap Server to your network and to a power source.

Step 2: Turn the server on.

Step 3: Assign the server an IP address (if necessary) and connect to the server for the first time.

Step 4: Configure your server.

Step 1: Connect the Snap Server to your network and to a power source.

You can connect your Snap Server to a 10BaseT, 100BaseTX, or 1000BaseT network.

1 Connect the server to your network using the Ethernet cable provided.

Insert the power supply retainer clip into the divets above the power connector, as illustrated in the figure above.

Connect the provided power supply to your Snap Server, and swing the retainer clip to fit snugly over the power connector.

Connect the provided AC power cord to the power supply, then connect the server to a UPS and/or electrical outlet.
Note Your Snap Server is designed to work with an APC-brand, USB or network-based UPS device to automatically shut down cleanly in the event of an extended power failure. The APC unit must be configured in the Administration Tool and in the APC user interface. To configure the APC in the Administration Tool, go to Server > UPS.

Step 2: Turn On Your Snap Server

Press the Power Button until the Status light turns on, then release the button and wait for the server to start up.

When the Status light starts blinking at a steady rate (about once a second), the startup is complete.

To turn off your Snap Server:

Press the Power Button until the Status light blinks three times (about one second). Release the button and wait for the lights to turn off.

After you turn off the Snap Server, the lights remain lit while the server completes its shutdown. You must wait for all of the lights to turn off before you turn on the server again or disconnect it from the power source. The Snap Server should never take more than thirty seconds to shut down.

Note : It is important to shut down your server properly to avoid the possibility of data corruption.

Introduction

America’s health depends on good nutrition. However, many low-income households still need help to have a healthy diet. Each month millions of low-income Americans—more than half of them children—get that help through the Federal Food Stamp Program. Under the Program, State and local social services agencies give monthly food stamp benefits to households that qualify. These food stamp benefits—in the form of Electronic Benefits Transfer (EBT) debit cards—can be used to buy food at authorized retail food stores.

Every retailer who participates in the Food Stamp Program must follow all Program laws and regulations. This guide will help you learn the Program rules and answer common questions about the Food Stamp Program. Even an honest mistake could cost you your authorization, so please make sure you pay special attention to Part 4: What Happens if You Break the Rules?

The Food Stamp Program is administered by the Food and Nutrition Service (FNS) of the U.S. Department of Agriculture, through its nationwide network of FNS field offices. FNS field offices authorize qualified retailers to accept food stamp benefits, provide information to retailers, and enforce the Program rules to prevent errors and abuse.

The staff of your local FNS field office is available to answer your questions and advise you on Program rules and procedures. Always consult with them if you have a problem or are unsure how to handle a particular situation.

At the end of this publication, we have also included information that will be helpful to anyone wanting to know more about the Program and how to apply for food stamp benefits. This may be helpful in case any of your customers ask, or if you wish to tell somebody about the Program.

What is Acronis Snap Deploy
Acronis Snap Deploy is a flexible, efficient software solution for deployment of a fully configured operating system (with or without application software and any other data) to multiple computers. Because the product uses disk imaging technology, it is ideal for rapid bare-metal installations and flexible centralized provisioning.

Acronis Snap Deploy components
Acronis Snap Deploy includes the following components:

Acronis Snap Deploy Management Console is an administrative tool for remote access to Acronis servers and Acronis Snap Deploy Management Agent.
When disconnected from the Acronis components, the console allows only installing Acronis products on remote machines.

Acronis OS Deploy Server is a component that performs centralized deployment through the network with the help of Acronis Snap Deploy Agents.

Acronis Snap Deploy Agent is a bootable component that performs deployment on each target computer under control of the Acronis OS Deploy Server.
There are two ways to load Acronis Snap Deploy Agent on target computers: locally from bootable media or remotely using Acronis PXE Server.

Acronis Master Image Creator is a bootable, locally controlled component that takes an image of the master system.
There are two ways to load Acronis Master Image Creator on a master computer: directly from bootable media or remotely using Acronis PXE Server.

Acronis Snap Deploy Management Agent is a component that takes an image of the master system in Windows environment under the administrator’s control through the Acronis Snap.
Deploy Management Console. The administrator can also manage files and execute applications on a remote computer using Acronis Snap Deploy Management Agent.

Acronis PXE Server allows for network booting computers into Acronis Snap Deploy Agent, Acronis Master Image Creator or Preinstallation Environment. The computers must support PXE.
Using Acronis PXE Server considerably reduces the time required for booting multiple computers as compared to using bootable media. It also eliminates the need to have a technician onsite to install the bootable media into the system that must be booted.

Acronis Wake on LAN Proxy is a component that enables the Acronis OS Deploy Server to wake the target computers located in the other subnet.

Acronis Standalone Utility is a bootable component that enables full functional deployment with GUI on a standalone computer (a computer isolated from the network or included in a network without Acronis Snap Deploy infrastructure).

Acronis License Server is a component that tracks licenses of Acronis products.

Acronis Universal Deploy (optional) is an add-on to Acronis Snap Deploy that enables hardware-independent operating system deployment.
