Acer Aspire One User Guide
Overview
The Acer Aspire One is a Netbook. A low performance laptop intended for light use specifically for web browsing and using web applications that require no client software installation and can be accessed over a wireless network. These devices are intended to be used to provide quick convenient portable access to the internet.
This document is a user guide specific to the use of an Acer Aspire One Netbook at The University of Adelaide. It outlines support and recommended setup and installation guides to be followed to help you get the most out of your Netbook at The University of Adelaide. It is also intended to assist IT support in providing support for the Acer Aspire One.
Support
The University of Adelaide does not support the use of a Netbook as a replacement for a staff workstation, either desktop or laptop.
The University of Adelaide supports the purchase and use of the Acer Aspire One within support limitation defined as below;
- Web services defined under Online Services for the Aspire One
- System troubleshooting and restore as defined under System Troubleshooting and Recovery
- Network access as defined under Wireless Configuration
Included software
The list of included software is intended to help support staff in identifying when software updates may have been made to the Aspire One causing conflicts. It also helps with a baseline knowing which software is included by default if a complete restore of the device is required.
Please note if a complete restore is required only included software is installed. The installation of all other software is the responsibility of the user.
