Apple iMac G5 Motherboard Repair Manual

Apple iMac G5 Motherboard PowerPC capacitors replaced. The iMac mother board pictured above shows the locations of the new capacitors installed. Note: The heights and diameters of the new capacitors are slightly bigger in this picture, than the original caps. Upgraded to 1,800 uf 10 volts from the original 1,800 uf 6.3 volts.

Back cover still clears (barely clears) all components. Important notes are as follows. It appears as though lead free solder was used and a polymer was coated on the assembled motherboard on the bottom. A very hot soldering iron is required. Doing it yourself is not for the faint at heart. But fear not, you can do it if you follow this procedure.

Remote Director Apple iMac G5 PDF Manual

Viewing angle is an important consideration when using Remote Director. The user should only judge color when sitting directly in front of, and perpendicular to, the display. The viewing station should be angled so that the viewer can make comparisons without changing their viewing angle relative to the display.

Because today’s monitor technologies cannot achieve the illumination intensity of a standard pre-press viewing booth, a soft proof will appear too dark when compared to a hard copy proof illuminated in a standard graphic arts viewing booth. A dimmable D50 viewing booth located alongside the monitor mitigates this problem.

Power up the iMac G5 and the viewing booth and allow at least 30 minutes for all components to warm up. From the Apple Menu, select System Preferences, click on the Displays icon and confirm that the brightness is set at 100%, all the way to the right. Connect the Eye-One spectrophotometer or the Monaco OPTIX XR via an available USB port. NOTE: The Eye-One may need to be connected directly to the CPU to receive enough power, while the OPTIX XR can be connected to the keyboard.
